The Art Complex Museum, 189 Alden Street, Duxbury, MA
September 21, 2025 - January 11, 2026
Artist Reception – September 21, 2025, 1-4pm – Free and open to the public
The Boston Printmakers announces our upcoming members’ exhibit. Founded in 1947, the mission of the Boston Printmakers is to promote public knowledge of printmaking, encourage and support artists working in printmaking, and promote excellence and innovation within the field of printmaking. We are a juried group of about 300 printmakers residing in North America.
The title of the exhibit is Making Waves: The Boston Printmakers Members’ Exhibit 2025. It will be held at The Art Complex Museum in the historic town of Duxbury, Massachusetts, about 30 miles south of Boston on the Atlantic coastline. Although the title references the museum’s proximity to the ocean and its roofline of rolling waves which is carried into the gallery space, the theme can be taken in many, many directions.
The Art Complex Museum is a “jewel-box” of a museum that houses the art collection of the Carl A. Weyerhaeuser family. The museum has generously hosted a variety of exhibits of the Boston Printmakers since its opening in 1971.

Eligibility
Entry is open to all members of the Boston Printmakers in good standing. Submissions must incorporate printmaking techniques. Works shown at the Art Complex Museum in the past five years are not eligible. The Exhibition Committee and the gallery director may reject any piece that differs significantly from the digital image, does not fit the criteria, or is not framed in a suitable manner for museum display.
Specifications
We are happy to announce there will be no fee for participation in the exhibit.
Art can be either 2- or 3-dimensional, i.e., books and sculpture are welcome.
Members may submit one
work as a high-quality jpeg (minimum of 1200 to a maximum of 1920 pixels on the longer side). All
work will be submitted via ArtCall.
In order to allow ALL interested members to participate, the first 80 works submitted will be shown in the gallery physically. Works submitted after that number is reached will be shown virtually on a large monitor in the gallery which will rotate through a display of the works not physically in the gallery.
If you want your work to appear physically in the gallery, the work must not exceed 36 inches in width (no restrictions on height/length) and it must be one of the first 80 works submitted requesting gallery space.
During the submission process you will be asked to choose your preference from one of the following options:
For work exhibited in the gallery, two-dimensional work should be framed in a slim black or neutral-color frame, covered with plexiglas, and be ready to hang with a wire. Clip-on frames, saw-tooth and keyhole hangers will not be accepted. We encourage those with large two- or three-dimensional work to contact the Exhibitions Committee via exhibitions@bostonprintmakers.org to ensure it can be installed in the gallery.
On June 30, the Exhibitions Committee will notify you via email message from ArtCall whether your work will be exhibited physically (delivery instructions will be included) or exhibited virtually in the gallery (no delivery needed).
Image format and publicity
Digital files must be submitted as print-quality JPEGs at a minimum of 1200 pixels and a maximum of 1920 pixels on the long side and a maximum file size of 5MB. By entering this exhibition, each artist grants consent for the use of submitted images by both the Boston Printmakers and the Art Complex Museum for use in print or on-line media for publicity and for educational purposes.
